GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Police are investigating a shooting at a Gwinnett County park caught on cellphone video.
In the video, a gunman comes running into Bay Creek Park on Ozora Road just after 9 p.m. shooting across the skate park at somebody in the tree line.
A witness sent the video exclusively to Channel 2’s Tony Thomas.
People visiting the park began diving for cover as the man ran through the parking lot. A witness tackled the gunman but he was able to escape.
Gwinnett County police say they had one person report the Oct. 6 shooting, but so far they have not found a victim. BOLOs have been sent to metro area police departments looking for an older green SUV the gunmen and another man drove off in.
Detectives say commanders have ordered extra patrols in the park to try and stop any more confrontations.
“It makes you weary of what’s actually changing and happening here,” park visitor Tracy McIntyre said.
Police say it’s hard to identify any of the people involved from the video but they hope someone will come forward.
They are also asking park employees to be looking out for the vehicle or people involved.
“I think it’s a bad situation, especially since it’s the skate park. (It) is a place for people to hang out and have fun, not someplace to be scared of,” visitor Dante Rogers said.
The person who shot the video did not want to go on camera but says the shooter is known to people in the area.
