Small quake shakes parts of NW Georgia, SE Tennessee

A small earthquake was felt very early Sunday morning in parts of far northwest Georgia and southeast Tennessee.

According to the US Geological Survey, the quake only measured at a magnitude 2.4, and was centered near Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., just south of Chattanooga.

It happened at 4:53 a.m., so while most folks were asleep, our Chattanooga sister station WRCB noted that they received calls from parts of Chattanooga and East Ridge, Tenn., from people who felt the tremor.
