DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. —

DeKalb County police are looking for a carjacker who took off with a 9-month-old girl in the backseat.

Police began looking for nine-month-old Brittney and her father’s 2004 Nissan Maxima around 9:45 p.m. Saturday night.

Brittney’s father left her in the running and unlocked car as he went into a Little Ceasars on Tucker Norcross Road.

The thief jumped into the running car and took off with Brittney in the back seat.

Three hours later she was found safe outside a Publix on Shallowford Road, where it appeared the thief ditched the car.

“Employees of Dimarco’s Pizza saw the vehicle sitting outside running sometime ago,” said DeKalb Police Capt. Nicole Rutland. “They saw it running later on and decided to come out and check. Looked inside and saw the child inside and called 911.”

Police say surveillance video shows only one person involved in this incident.

Channel 2’s Steve Gehlbach says Brittney’s father could face criminal charges.
