ATLANTA — An 81-year-old man died after the the car he was driving hit a tree Monday morning.
The accident took place on Woodhaven Road just before 6 a.m.. The driver was deceased when Atlanta Fire and Police arrived at the scene.
“It looks like he was coming down the street and he crashed into the tree that was already down over the street,” Atlanta fire Department PIO Cortez Stafford said.
According to Georgia Power, the tree knocked out the power to the street lights when it fell.
Brad Hammond said he was driving down the road when he came upon the accident. He said he called 911 and got help from his neighbor, who is a doctor.
“He was able to find the arm of the occupant and check for a pulse, and there was no pulse,” said Hammond.
The victim has been identified as Marion Webb Jr., of Decatur.
