Clark Atlanta University confirmed Monday that suspected Baton Rouge shooter Gavin Long attended classes there.

Long was identified as the shooter who shot and killed at least three Baton Rouge police officers and wounded three others on Sunday morning in Baton Rouge.

The shooting, which took place on Long’s birthday, happened just before 9 a.m., less than a mile from police headquarters.

In a statement, Clark Atlanta said records show Long “was briefly enrolled in Clark Atlanta University during the 2012-13 academic year.”

“The University categorically denounces this heinous act as it transgresses the institution’s core values and the very underpinnings of our institutional mission,” the statement said.

A spokesman for the Louisiana State Police says they believe Long was the only shooter. However, officials are unsure whether he had accomplices.

Long is a former Marine and posted online as a spiritual advisor, life coach and author using the pseudonym Cosmo Setepenra. In online bios, he said he was a dean’s list student at Clark Atlanta who dropped out after having a spiritual revelation.
