ATLANTA — Atlanta police say three pedestrians were injured in a chain reaction crash in the eastbound lanes of the 17th Street bridge in Midtown.
Police have temporarily shut down the eastbound lanes of 17th Street.
A witness told Channel 2 Action News a sedan rear-ended an SUV in the eastbound lanes of 17th St.
Witness accounts say the people involved in that accident got out of their vehicles on the road, and were injured when a third car ran into the two stopped cars.
“If I had a leg blown out like that, I would’ve freaked out a lot more,” witness Adam Freine said.
Freine said he’s an Iraq War veteran, so he used his combat training.
“First priority was to get folks out of the street.” Freine said. “There was several children that were in the street and I had to stop the bleeding so I applied a tourniquet just as a precaution.”
One woman suffered a fractured ankle, one man broke both shins and another male broke one shin.
